REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL

We invite you to submit a proposal for the 2020 AFELT Conference – “Creating the Future Through Higher Education” The conference will be held on 3rd and 4th Sept. 2020 at Amref International University – Nairobi Kenya. The call for proposals is open 9th March 2020 through 20th April 2020. Proposals may be for interactive workshops or paper presentations. In either case, sessions should engage participants in active learning. Should your session be accepted and if it includes the presentation of an original unpublished paper, the paper will be included in the published proceedings of the conference. Papers may be reports of research conducted, position papers, or other material appropriate for the conference theme and threads.

500 words for full abstract 250 words for program abstract
For presentations that include an original unpublished paper, the following guidelines should be followed:
    Final paper should be no more than 5,000 words (excluding references).
    Conform to the7th edition of the APA Publications Manual
    Content of abstracts should contain no material that might identify the author(s)

90-Minute Interactive Session

The session content must reflect one or more of the above threads.

Session Handouts

If you believe you have information (e.g., a summary or other material) that participants would value please bring 10-15 handouts.

The Review Process

All abstracts will undergo a blind review process by individuals who have indicated they understand transformative learning. The reviewers will come from within AFELT.

Criteria for Review

Submissions are evaluated on a 1 – 4 scale (with 1 representing STRONGLY DISAGREE, 2 representing DISAGREE, 3 representing AGREE, and 4 representing STRONGLY AGREE) in the following areas:
  1. Includes a one-sentence summary for the program stating how the session connects to TL in one of the threads
  2. Contains how the proposal relates to conference theme
  3. Provides a plan for audience interaction
  4. Contains a breakdown of the session agenda
  5. Recognizes research-based evidence
  6. Includes learning outcomes for participants

The Notification Process

All author(s) will receive final notification via email by 20th May 2020, at the latest. Accepted authors that shall not have registered for the Conference by 1st July 2020, will be withdrawn from the program.
